“If we can share our story with someone who responds with empathy and understanding, shame can’t survive.”
- Sonya Renee Taylor
My Approach
Experiential & Trauma-Informed
My approach is based on the belief that healing happens through safe, embodied connection. My work is rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and attachment science. We will gently and safely notice and connect with your feelings and experiences in real time, rather than only talking about them, to provide healing that goes beyond insight. We may work with past experiences or younger parts of yourself to bring compassion and care to places that once felt alone or unseen.
Anti-Oppression & Systems-Based
My approach also focuses on systems thinking, cultural responsiveness, and exploring the influences of systemic oppression on mental health. I take a systems perspective, meaning that I explore how your experiences make sense in the context of your family, culture, and systemic factors. I pay attention to how oppression can become internalized and shape our relationships with ourselves and others. I aim to support you in untangling those messages and reconnect you with your agency, worth, and sense of community.
Ongoing Training
I’m always exploring new ways to deepen my understanding and practice of effective therapy. Currently, I am pursuing certification in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) and am enrolled in the Professional Training Program for Complex Trauma through the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD).
Treatment Approaches
My approach integrates top-down (cognitive and insight-oriented) and bottom-up (somatic and nervous-system-based) therapies to support lasting change.
